International Deliveries Starting Shortly.

Why Is Sustainable Fashion Important?

As the world’s second largest polluter after the oil industry, the fashion industry has a devastating influence on the environment that is only growing at an alarming pace, as the fashion industry evolves.

In most of the garment-producing countries around the world, untreated toxic waste water from textile factories is directly diverted into rivers. These water bodies house aquatic life & also provide water to the inhabitants around the area.

Sadly, the toxic waste which includes among others, lead, mercury, and arsenic, pollutes the rivers and also has a far-flung impact on the sea and subsequently the eco-system around the globe.

The fashion industry is predominantly a water guzzler.

An incredible amount of fresh water is consumed for the dyeing and finishing process for all garments. As much as up to 200 tons of fresh water can be utilized per ton of dyed fabric.

Cotton, for instance, being a tropical crop, requires huge quantities of water. To produce just 1 kg of cotton, almost 20,000 litres of water is consumed. An already scarce resource, that has diminished in certain parts of the world, like the Aral Sea.

The very act of washing a synthetic garment releases about 1,900 individual microfibers into the water. Marine studies reveal that these are consumed by tiny organisms in the water, eaten by small fish, which are eaten by bigger fish and finally consumed by us, filling our bodies with toxic waste.

With fashion trends evolving & changing so fast, clothing is now a dispensable as well as a disposable item, generating more and more textile waste. An average family in the western world disposes an average of 30 kg of clothing each year. Of which barely 15% is recycled or donated, while the rest goes directly to the landfill or is incinerated.

The alarming fact is that synthetic fibres, like polyester which constitute 72% of our clothing, are non-biodegradable and can take up to 200 years to decompose.

In our desire to keep pace with constantly changing fashion, we reach out for the various collections put out by the fashion industry. Glossy advertisements, glorifying these garments lead to over production of cheap, disposable fashion making it affordable & persuading fashion victims to buy more & more.

How Is z3 Helping Save The Environment?

  • 92% Of The Water Used For Manufacturing Our Shirts Is Recycled

Science and research come together in an indigenously designed, fully automated system that not only stops depletion of ground water but actually replenishes it.

Using a combination of recycling & multi-filter rainwater harvesting the system cuts water consumption significantly and recycles effluents generated into pure water which is fed to rainwater harvesting tanks thereby creating a perennial loop to replenish ground water.

After recycling 92% of the water, the remaining is further processed through a multi- stage evaporator and the condensate is recovered.

  • While Recycling Effluents We Extract The Heat & Reuse It To Reduce Our Carbon Footprint

The effluent discharge from our dyeing machines comes out at approximately 60 degrees celsius because dyeing requires steam.

Our custom-built heat exchangers extract heat from this hot water which is then used to raise the temperature of fresh water being fed to the boiler, thereby reducing the consumption of the boiler fuel and as a result, our carbon footprint.

  • A HIGG INDEX Rating That Is Amongst The Very Best In The Industry

Our HIGG Index rating is like our fashion quotient - amongst the finest in the country.

  • A Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Process Ensures That We Do Not Pollute The Environment

We are proud to have our (ZLD) set the industry standard on water consumption efficiency to the scale of 98.5%

We have introduced a line of Organic Cotton shirts certified by GOTS. The cotton used is grown without using harmful pesticides or genetically modified seeds. It is then woven using eco-friendly techniques without the use of any toxic chemical.

In this era of eco renaissance Zodiac continues to raise the bar with #SustainableFashion for the millennials who will be the adults of tomorrow making informed decisions.
