Cologne
It doesn’t matter if you’re climbing the Himalayas or sitting cozy by a fireside, a few minutes of focused thinking about what you will wear will help you keep warm and comfortable, and you’ll probably look better too!
Base layer: The primary function of the innermost layer should be to wick moisture away from your body.
Mid-layer: The next layers should insulate and continue to transport moisture away from the body towards the outer shell. It’s better to err on the side of too many layers. You can always remove something if you get too warm. Look for fabrics that trap air to keep you warm. Fleece or wool are good options.
Outerwear: The outer layer’s purpose is to protect you from wind, rain and snow. Fabrics in the outer layer should allow for ventilation and breathability. Make certain that it’s big enough to fit over all the other layers comfortably. The outer shell must protect against the elements, especially wind and water, to keep the other layers dry. Look for waterproof fabrics that also breathe.
Remember, you don't have to spend a fortune to look stylish, but try to incorporate these six fall musts into your wardrobe.
Cardigan
This is not your grandfather’s cardigan. It’s a different kind of sweater that has a slimmer, more modern cut that you can wear at the office or on a date. It’s thin enough to wear over a dress shirt and underneath a jacket. It can even be worn over your favorite tee with a pair of jeans. It’s one of the most versatile items you can have in your wardrobe. Try one made out of light weight merino wool or cashmere and that has a double zipper so you unzip the bottom when you are sitting.
